Dr. John Allendorf, FACS
Dr. Allendorf is an expert in the field of endocrine surgery. He graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and then trained under Dr. Paul LoGerfo at the New York Thyroid Center. Dr. Allendorf subsequently joined the faculty at Columbia University where he served as the program director for the Endocrine Surgery Fellowship Program.
Dr. Allendorf is an active member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons where he has often presented his research and has served on several committees on a national level. He has lectured at the American College of Surgeons postgraduate course in endocrine surgery and teaches an accredited course in head and neck ultrasound. He has deep experience with the surgical management of thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreatic disease using both traditional and minimally invasive techniques. He was at the forefront of outpatient surgery for thyroid and parathyroid disease and offers these procedures under local anesthesia.
His endocrine surgery outcomes have been published widely in the peer reviewed literature.
After 12 years on faculty at Columbia University, Dr. Allendorf was successfully recruited to be the Chief of Endocrine Surgery at Winthrop University Hospital where he also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
